What is
Flax
Flax is a blue flowering plant that grows mainly in Western Canada and is rich in its oil seeds. Flax seed oil is the richest plant derived with Omega-3 fatty acids. These essential Omega-3 fatty acids are required for the health of almost all body systems and yet it cannot be produced by the body. Besides being the best source of Omega-3 fatty acids, flax seed oil is also a good source of Omega-6 and Omega-9 fatty acids.
Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are vital to regulate heart rate, blood pressure, blood clotting, fertility, and plays an important role in immune functions. Deficiencies in fatty acids may link to serious health conditions such as heart attacks, cancer, stroke, diabetes, obesity, etc. Sufficient EFAs must be obtained through daily diet in order to prevent EFAs deficiency. EFAs are needed by the body to produce prostaglandin which is important for all body hormone production, ie: Testosterone level.
Did You Know
Flax seed oil contains high essential fatty acids and generations of people have used it for its health benefits. These fragile essential fatty acids are highly unsaturated and can rapidly become oxidized upon exposure to light and oxygen.
Hence, flax seed oil should be cold pressed below 40˚C in order to preserve the freshness of the essential fatty acids into a softgel. It should not be refined, filtered, bleached or deodorized. In addition, this essential oil should be kept away from light and oxygen.
